If not, maybe you can share the one that you create!įinally, one of the things that makes Krita special is that it's open source, which means that anybody is free to go into the program's source code and make any mods or changes that they want. I don't know for sure, but it's also possible that somebody online has already made a Krita workspace or shortcut set that's close to what you want. Then you can save both the workspace and the keyboard shortcut set and share them with your friend. You can also edit keyboard shortcuts to make things even more like what they're used to. You can remove dockers or add extra dockers from the Settings > Dockers menu. You can do this by clicking on the title bar/name tag of any existing docker and dragging to a different edge of the screen. You can import and adjust models in Clip for references. The easiest way is to get something close to what you want by rearranging all of the "dockers" (little windows) in a way that's similar to whatever program they're used to. There is a larger learning curve on Clip, I will admit to that, but it's only because the program does have so much more to offer than Sai did. I think it really just depends on what the artist prefers, and for me it's NOT SAI, since the reason I jumped ship from that program was that I kept getting errors trying to open files that were saved from the program. I have done pencil like sketches on Clip Studio no problem. I know a lot of artists still use the program, but between the lack of brushes for it, and the problems I had opening files, I gave up on Sai. I had much fewer issues with Clip than I had while using Sai. With regular half price sales, you can get Clip for about $25 USD, which if you're buying Sai has a lot more features for a much better price. some assets do cost money, you have to pay for Gold, and some artists sell brush sets through Gumroad as well, but there are a lot of free ones to go through. The brush tips for Sai is this tiny pixelated circle you could make ones yourself, but they always felt much more limited because of how tiny the brush tips have to be made. There was this button that is supposed to do it for you, written by a third party, but every time I tried to do that, the program crashed.įREE ASSETS - there is a LOT more going on for Clip Studio than I was ever able to find for Sai. (again, not sure if this is a Sai 2 thing or not, but this is how Sai 1 had to be updated for me): You have to go into word files, add the name of the brush tip or paper texture to which ever file you have added to.
CLIP STUDIO PAINT VS PAINTTOOL SAI UPDATE
The way you have to update brushes on Paint Tool Sai is REALLY annoying. There is Sai 2, but I'm not sure how they update it. Sai no longer gets regular updates anymore like Clip Studio.
CLIP STUDIO PAINT VS PAINTTOOL SAI PROFESSIONAL
Just make the plunge and pick up some professional software. Honestly, if you aren't planning to incorporate CSP into your animation workflow, EX is absolutely unnecessary.Īs a side note, I wouldn't recommend working in MediBang or MSPaint.
CLIP STUDIO PAINT VS PAINTTOOL SAI PRO
Here is a list of the differences between Pro and EX.
CLIP STUDIO PAINT VS PAINTTOOL SAI SOFTWARE
Hell, I'd argue that it keeps up with even the most expensive software on the market. When compared with other software at similar pricing, it offers a lot more. CSP is affordable, has frequent sales, and is a one-time purchase. It also allows for both raster and vector layers in a single document.

It's a highly versatile program with built in templates and features for comics and animation. Clip Studio Assets has a lot of quality content (including "SAI type" brushes), is easy to use, has a large user base, and has a lot of documentation (official and through their "tips" program which rewards users with cash prizes for making quality "how-to" guides).

It's, IMO, one of the best programs out there for "natural" looking illustration. " This one I started drawing on ClipStudio, but then I realized it was supposed to be sketch commission dsjhakdhasjk and for me sketches are better to do on SAI, so I switched to that before was too late pff "Īnyone care to explain this to a noob like me?Īnd any other differences you'd point out maybe.ĬSP is a great program. My favourite pasttime is watching youtube artists doing speed paints of random character, but in one of the recent ones I watched, I saw this written in the description of the video what I want, is if anyone can specify how PaintToolSai and CSP are different. Yes, I know as a beginner even MS Paint is a good enough place to start off, but please don't bash me over asking in-depth questions about softwares hahaĪnyway, I understand Photoshop isnt really an illustration software but people use it for that reason anyway. So in my never-ending research for a good illustration software before my first pen-tablet gets delivered by Amazon, I've been coming across lots of things that pro artists say about differences in such softwares.
